Gazprom eyes no new sanctions vs gas exports to EU
MOSCOW, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom does not expect new sanctions against its natural gas exports to the E.U., Gazprom Export CEO Yelena Burmistrova said on Thursday during the company’s investor day.
“Our expectations are that the sanctions against our company and against gas supplies to the European market are unlikely to happen, but this (news flow around sanctions) will cause many problems, though these problems will more likely be in the field of emotions,” she said.
Gazprom’s foreign partners express their intention to prolong contracts with the company for 10–20 more years. “I would say that this proves that despite all the hustle and bustle on the markets and despite all this informational noise…this proves that the companies choose to work with us,” she said.
Partners of Gazprom will definitely vote with their heads instead of emotions and will continue doing business, so any serious sanctions are unlikely to happen, she added.
